I have speech (f, k, h, w etc), language (prepositions, pronouns) and oral motor (lip rounding, jaw opening) focused books.
Over the course of working in speech therapy for more than 10 years, I have written and illustrated almost 30 books with focusing on a variety of targets. I made my first book when I was a student. I re-imagined the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk to work on “long” sounds, like ‘eff’ and ‘vee’.
Therapists like to pull together a theme for clients, increasing their exposure to certain vocabulary and speech targets. Even with millions of books on the market, you can not always find a book that has 2 or 3 ‘h’ words per page. Repetition helps with practicing a speech and language goal.
The books I created while working in a traditional therapy setting job, were laminated pieces of paper, held together by a binder ring. Not fancy, but functional. My coworkers frequently borrowed from my stash of custom materials. Now, that I am working on publishing these books and more.
I am open to any suggestions of books you find you might need for treatment. Currently, I am working on books for food, clothing and body parts themes.
